Sunday Weekly Wrap Up (30) & Stacking the Shelves (14)

Sunday weekly wrap up

mondays animated GIF

So it’s officially the end of Term Three and it’s school holidays . . . apart from those — like me — who are taking their HSC. Sigh. But for those people who are blissfully on school holidays, enjoy! (I’m not complaining; I’ll be free from school soon.) So what has happened this week?

— I got my final school report! YAY. NO MORE REPORTS. NO MORE REPORTS EVER. HUZZAH!

— I finished editing/rewriting the first chapter of The Empire of Stars. (8913 words — IT’S EVEN LONGER THAN THE FIRST DRAFT. WHYYYY, LONG NOVEL, WHYYYYY?)

— I finally read Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas — and daaaaaamnnn, it was good. Amazing, in fact; there will be a review coming Monday.

— I’ve had a freakishly good reading week. I’ve given two books five stars. FIVE STARS. Yes, Kara actually gives things five stars!! (Dangerous Girls & Snow Like Ashes.)

— If I’m absent from your blog, it’s not because I don’t love it, promise, it’s because I’m stuck in the Miserable Cave of Studying.

— I borrowed more books from the library. MORE BOOKS.

And hence, here’s my Stacking the Shelves post for this week.

From Top to Bottom

She’s Not Invisible by Marcus Sedgwick

Not sure about this one! But it looks cool.

Countdown by Michelle Rowen

I’ve enjoyed the authors writing before, so I thought I would try this one! Though it sounds very Hunger Games-ish

If I should Die by Amy Plum

Eh. The only reason I’m reading this? So I can say I’ve finished the series . . .

Allegiance by Cayla Kluver

I didn’t love the first one, but the cover is really pretty!

Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder

I’ve read this before, I think. When I was really really really really young. And I don’t remember a thing about it. So I want to re-read it to see what I think about it now!

Free to Fall by Lauren Miller

Such a pretty hardcover book! And the concept looks really intriguing, so . . .

Gameboard of the Gods by Richelle Mead

I’ve been looking for this one for ages! I think Richelle Mead is a good writer, and I’ll be interested to see what this series is like.

Silver Shadows by Richelle Mead

More Richelle Mead!

What books have you acquired this week??

  1. Best wishes for all your exams Kara, I’m sure you’ll do great! :) Looks like you’ve gotten some interesting books from the library too – I’ve always wanted to read She’s Not Invisible and Countdown, so I might actually go and see if they have them at my library…

  2. I also borrowed Poison Study recently! Hopefully we’ll both enjoy it :)

GOOD LUCK with your studying, Kara!!! That’ll be Eugenia and me in a year’s time. I’m sure you’ll do wonderfully :)

I really want to read She is Not Invisible, but I can’t find it at any of the libraries near me! DAMN.

As always, I love the Monday gifs :P

  3. I love your monday gifs. Just saying. They’re the best.

GOOD LUCK FOR OUR EXAMS! Eeh. Freaky. But I hope you do really really well and chocolate rewards all round, right/!!

She Is Not Invisible is fabulous. Especially the writer writing about writing bits, I just love it when books do that. I actually have never read Richelle Mead, but a friend just leant me the first The Gameboards of Gods one so…I may be reading it sooner than later. Awesome. :)

  4. Really great STS post this week Kara! Congrats on the final report and good luck on the exams!

I hope you plan tonnes of reading time to celebrate :)

I enjoyed Silver Shadows and Countdown, although Gameboard of the Gods was a hard one for me to get into, as much as I love RM. Glad to hear you really enjoyed Dangerous Girls, that one was the best.

  5. GOOD LUCK STUDYING, Kara. :D And on finishing editing/rewriting your first chapter of your novel. :) I’m so glad you loved Dangerous Girls! I’m definitely going to have to get onto that soon. And I’m glad you loved Snow Like Ashes too, because I need that!

I really want to read She Is Not Invisible, Poison Study and Gameboard of the Gods! Can’t wait to see what you think of those ones.

This week, I’ve acquired a review copy of Apple and Rain by Sarah Crossan and a copy of The Year of the Rat by Clare Furniss.

  6. Good luck studying. I hated studying so much. You got some great books there. Most of them are on my to-read list, the only one that isn’t is If I should Die, I gave up on that series after the first book. Happy reading :)

  7. Hope you’re HSC stuff goes well (and despite the studying, it is summer where you’re at, so I hope you’ll have some fun in the sun) and wow, so many library books. I’m currently on a library ban…I’m kind of scared of my account, it said that about five books were reserved by other people, and I’m very overdue (not in the pregnant way, mind) and I checked it last week after sweating buckets of anxiety over what to do seeing that I really needed to read these books IN SUCH A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME, and I logged in and EVERYTHING WAS FINE. (The books weren’t even overdue. I’m really, really suspicious right now…)

  8. I think I recently saw a post about She’s Not Invisible and it sounds a really good book from what I have heard. And I loved Poison Study, so I hope you enjoy re-reading that, the serious is seriously a great one, although I do think the first book is the strongest of the lot. I need to try more Snyder books asap! Best of luck with all your studying too!

  9. Oooh, five stars to SNOW LIKE ASHES? I’m super looking forward to reading that, so I’m glad to know that you enjoyed it!! (Also, I’m extremely excited to read SHE IS NOT INVISIBLE and I hope you thoroughly enjoy it.)

Congratulations on receiving your last school report, and good luck with all your studying and exams!

  10. DAMN GIRL YOU GET SO MANY BOOKS CAN I BE YOU.

Anyway. YOU GIVE BOOKS FIVE STARS? I MUST READ THESE BOOKS. Allegiant. Oh man. You’re gonna… Oh I don’t know. I can’t wait to read that review xD Dangerous Girls?! I’ve heard so many good things. I need to read that book as well as Dangerous Boys. I haven’t gotten to Silver Shadows yet! I need to. Great haul!
