Sunday Weekly Wrap Up (46)

Sunday weekly wrap up

This, my friends, is an accurate gif of how I am handling the Australian summer.

So, apart from trying not to melt under the Australian sun, here’s what I’ve been doing!

  • I managed to not borrow / buy a single book this week, despite spending a few hours in the library.
  • I think I deserve a medal for that.
  • This week I’ve been hard at work revising Ava Hale, and also learned that a change of scenery when writing can be a really, really good thing. I’ll be blogging about this soon!
  • I went and saw Into the Woods with a friend — and despite being the Almighty Lover of Fairytales, this one didn’t work for me. Question: How many of you would be interested in reading a movie review for it? Let me know!
  • My library TBR pile can almost fit onto one shelf. GO ME.
  • There were lots of “Discussion” posts this week. What did you think of them? Should they become a more regular thing?
  • 22911276Books read this week: The Lonesome Young by Lucy Connor; The Incredible Adventures of Cinnamon Girl by Melissa Keil; The Selection Stories — The Prince & The Guard by Keira Cass; Altered by Jennifer Rush; Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi; Geek Girl: Model Misfit by Holly Smale; and Water So Deep by Nichole Giles.
  • Currently reading: Black Ice by Becca Fitzpatrick.

On the blog this week:

Monday: Discussion — Does Required Reading Lessen Your Enjoyment of a Book?

Tuesday: Top Ten Tuesday — Top Ten 2014 Releases I Meant Read but Didn’t Get to

Wednesday: Beautiful People #5 | In Which You Get to Learn About Me, As a Writer

Thursday: Book Review — Isla’s Oath by Cassandra Page

Friday: Friday Photography (8) The Sunset Edition

Saturday: Discussion — What Do I Think of Ghostwriting? (Also, I would love to hear your thoughts on this subject!)

See you next week!

  1. I would love to see your review of Into the Woods, and you should definitely make discussions a more regular thing!

I find it kind of funny that you’re melting in summer while I’m freezing in winter. (We should trade places, lol):P

  2. I know how you feel about Into The Woods – I saw it with some old friends this week, and none of us ended up really enjoying it unfortunately (which is sad because I had high hopes for it!)
Hope you have a good week of reading and that we both survive the heat!

  3. SOZ I MELTED THIS WEEK, that explains my absence, obviously.

Into The Woods was alright for me until after the big wedding bells. After that, it lost me. LOST ME. I’m working my way back on my feed SO I’M ABOUT TO GIVE UR DISCUSSION A MIGHTY LONG COMMENT OK BYE <3

  4. HOW HOT IS IT OMG, I cannot handle this heat at all. I want to go to the beach but I don’t want to turn into a prune either. Dilemma!

I love fairytales and retellings, but Into the Woods just didn’t appeal to me at all. It looked way too cheesy and not something I would rush out to watch. Would love to read a movie review on it Kara! I hope you have a wonderful week, and that you’ll enjoy Black Ice a lot more than I did :P

    • I cannot handle this heat. At all. I currently have a fan blowing at my face and I still feel like I’m melting! I’m really looking forward to winter, aha. xD Yup, if it doesn’t really appeal to you then I guess there’s no point going to see it. It was a huge disappointment for me! Aw, you didn’t like Black Ice? I actually enjoyed it!

  5. Into the Woods didn’t work for me, either. I loved how complex the story was and how all the fairytales wove together, but I didn’t like the acting. I felt like it was overdramaticized, and just kind of…weird. I don’t know…Is that what musicals are supposed to be like?

Yes, you should do more discussion posts, and you should also post your Into the Woods review.

Hehe, like Precious, I am freezing, not melting. So basically, that gif reversed.

    • YES! I loved all the fairytales. That was done brilliantly. Hm, I definitely see where you’re coming from with that! I thought the acting was OK for the most part, though I got the impression it was supposed to be a little over-dramatic and cheesy, so that didn’t bother me much. I just thought it went on waaay to long.

Oh my gosh, what wouldn’t I give to be freezing!!!!!

  6. OMFG lol that gif! It’s so accurate, though xD Also, I’m really curious about your thoughts on Black Ice! I hope you enjoy it, Kara.

  7. I love discussion posts, they are so much fun to read. LOL about deserving a medal, you doo though! I posted something similar when I went to the library and came out empty handed lol! Can’t wait to hear what you think of Black Ice Kara, it’s enjoyable but so many pain points!

  8. Congrats on not buying/borrowing a book in a week, that’s awesome. *Hands you a medal*
I saw into the woods and it was a huge let down. I didn’t realise it was a musical and wasn’t ready for all the singing. It felt like the longest movie I have ever seen. And I hated the twist and the road it went down in the end.

  9. Good on you for not getting any books this week (you deserve a celebration!). Oh, change of scenery is a freaking good tip to try and beat the writing blues. Hope the editing is going well with Ava Hale!
