So as I’m writing this, I’m preparing myself to start a high fantasy/romance THE FLAMES ARE LEGION (loosely inspired by the Norse mythology), and I’m super, super excited to dive into it. It’s a novel I’ve been thinking about for a long time and it’s filled with EVERYTHING I love in fantasy: magic, badass female main character, dragons (wyverns, specifically) and evil queens. I’ve always loved the concept of Norse mythology, and my mind is filled with the world of Asaragoth and my main character, Aleris. I’m inspired so much by art, too, and I came across this picture on DeviantART which it literally a spitting-image of how I imagined Aleris to look—right down to the black armor. I have so, so much love for this story and the wild journey I have planned for them. Needless to say I’ll be neck-deep in drafting over the next few weeks. In fact, I might make it part of my NaNoWriMo if I haven’t finished by then. I’m quite a fast drafter, so who knows. I’ve already began constructing a playlist (a LOT of how I write/edit is based on music, and I LOVE soundtrack/movie music) and it’s getting longgggggg.
If I’m MIA on social media, then you’ll know why. And to everyone who plans on competing in NaNoWriMo… GOOD LUCK!
After THE FLAMES ARE LEGION, I plan on going back through and, yet AGAIN, editing THE EMPIRE OF STARS—which is a story that I’ve been working on for about three years now. This time, though, I have bigggggggg revisions for it which means reworking large sections of the plot and the characters, and I’m very excited to see where it’ll take the story.
In other news…
A few weeks ago, I went into Dymocks Sydney for the Aus launch for FRAYED (huuuuggeeeee shout-out to the staff there, especially Emily—you guys ROCK) and had the hands-down BEST time. I honestly loved every moment of it, and it was crazy-awesome to personalize copies for people who bought and were excited to read FRAYED. So if you’re reading this & came, thank you so, so, SO much (and sorry to the two people I missed JUST after I left.)! But if you couldn’t make it and want a signed copy, Dymocks Sydney should still have some in stock.
(Ignore the hair… it is UNTAMEABLE.)
(I’m also fairly convinced that Doughnut Time has the most delicious doughnuts in existence. I need to go to a store and get some more ASAP.)
I can’t even believe that FRAYED has been out since June (September here) and wowwwww, time really does fly. A massive thank you to everyone who’s told me they’ve read & loved FRAYED, and I’m still astounded that in nearly every bookshop I walk into, there are copies of FRAYED. I’m incredibly grateful to all the booksellers out there, too—you guys do such a brilliant job getting authors & their books off the ground.
That’s all for now—but hopefully I’ll have some more writing/life updates soon, so keep an eye out! In the meantime, check out my Instagram where I update semi-regularly, and of course you can find me on Twitter with the same handle.
For all the bloggers out there, I have a question—
What free platforms do you use/recommend? I’m going to have to change my URL for next year (no longer a teen!), and was seriously considering another platform. Any suggestions—Blogger? Livejournal? Let me know!!
